Irregularities in pest control licence: govt orders probe
Dehradun, March 10 -- State agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi has ordered a detailed investigation into alleged irregularities in the state agriculture department related to the issuance of pest control licences and the sale of banned pesticides.
Taking serious note of complaints regarding violations of departmental regulations that could pose risks to farmers, the public, the environment and public health, the minister on Monday directed the department's secretary to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter.
According to officials, the allegations include the issuance of pest control licences to ineligible individuals and firms, as well as the illegal sale of banned pesticides at certain shops....
