PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 24 -- A head-on collision between two cars carrying pilgrims from Gonda and Amethi left nine people injured on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj Highway, near Rajgarh in Pratapgarh district, on Friday morning. The accident occurred at a diversion created due to ongoing construction work, police said. According to the police, the pilgrims from Gonda were returning home after taking a dip in the Ganga on the occasion of Basant Panchami in Magh Mela, while the occupants of the other car from Amethi were on their way to Prayagraj for the dip. The Gonda vehicle was driven by 45-year-old Kapil Dev Singh, a resident of Chetpur, who was travelling with his wife Neelam, son Vagish, daughter-in-law, and another family member. They had visited Prayagraj for Ganga Snan and were returning around 8.30 am when the mishap took place under the Dehat Kotwali police station limits. The other car was carrying Vijay Kumar Chaurasia of Ibadullah Nagar, Gauriganj (Amethi), along with Satyendra Mishra of Bhatgaon Gauriganj, his wife Sushila, and family members Archana, Vandana, Soni, and Rahul, who were heading towards the Sangam. Both vehicles were badly damaged in the accident, and traffic was disrupted on the highway. On receiving information, Bhupiamau police outpost in-charge Varun Pratap Singh reached the spot and arranged for the nine injured to be shifted to the medical college using another vehicle....
