HC orders arrest of youth over indecent remarks on judges
PRAYAGRAJ, March 6 -- The Allahabad high court has initiated action on 'digital misconduct', directing the Uttar Pradesh Police to track down and produce a youth accused of posting objectionable comments about the court and judges on social media. The court asked cops to locate the individual and produce him before it by March 16.
The FIR was lodged at the Cantonment police station on the complaint of Vinay Kumar Shukla, in-charge of the high court police outpost. The Facebook account holder, identified as Ashwani Ambedkar, was booked under Section 67 of the Information Technology (Amended) Act, 2008.
According to the complaint, objectionable and derogatory remarks against the judiciary and judges were posted from this fb account. Taking cognizance of the matter, the Allahabad HC directed the police commissioner to initiate strict action. Following the court's order, police teams began the process of identifying and locating the individual behind the social media profile.
The police were coordinating with the Cyber Cell to determine the whereabouts of the person operating the account. Station house officer Amarnath Rai confirmed that the case had been registered on the HC's instructions and that a dedicated police team was deployed for the accused's arrest....
