Lucknow, Feb. 8 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court has granted interim relief to Union minister of state Kirti Vardhan Singh. The HC set aside the order of a Gonda sessions court that had dismissed Singh's revision petition against a lower court's order to register an FIR against him. The high court has also directed the sessions court to decide the matter on its merits. A single-judge bench of Justice Rajiv Singh passed the order on February 6 on a petition filed by the minister. The petition said a person named Ajay Singh had obtained an order from a local court in Gonda to register an FIR against the petitioner and other individuals. Ajay Singh alleged that the minister and his associates committed fraud to grab his land and also filed a false case against him. The minister filed a revision petition before the sessions court against the order of the special court (MP/MLA) to register the FIR. The sessions court dismissed the plea on January 30 due to the continuous absence of the petitioners. The HC, while setting aside the January 30 order, stated that according to the SC's judgment, a revision petition that has been admitted cannot be dismissed for non-prosecution. The high court has ordered the sessions court to dispose of the minister's revision petition on its merits. htc...
