Haldwani man held for killing brother
Haldwani, Feb. 5 -- A man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly beating his younger brother to death after a dispute at their home in Haldwani, police said.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night in the Ram Mandir Bagicha area on Bareilly Road, said police, adding that the accused, Sandeep Jaiswal (45) got into an argument with his younger brother, Sonu Jaiswal (42) after returning home.
The argument escalated into a scuffle after Sandeep allegedly hit Sonu on the head and face with a steel water pot repeatedly and slammed him against a cot, said a police officer aware of the matter.
Sandeep also allegedly threatened his other family members to keep them from intervening to save Sonu, added the officer.
The family contacted the police through an acquaintance and tried to rush Sonu to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead, said the officer.
Haldwani police station house officer Vijay Mehta said, "Based on a complaint filed by the victim's family, an FIR has been registered and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination"
The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway," he added....
