HAI signs MoU with Prasar Bharti to Promote handball nationwide
LUCKNOW, July 12 -- Now, handball is going to be a household name as on Friday, Handball Association of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Prasar Bharati in New Delhi. The agreement is for a period of three years, under which Prasar Bharati will produce and broadcast all international and national handball events organised by HAI on DD Sports, Waves OTT and other PB platforms.
The MoU was formally exchanged between Prasar Bharti's CEO, Gaurav Dwivedi and Anandeshwar Pandey, Executive Director, "This MoU is a significant step toward popularizing handball at the grassroots and elite levels. The consistent coverage on DD Sports will inspire youth and boost the development of the sport across the country," said Anandeshwar Pandey. On the occasion, Prasar Bharti's chairman Navneet Kumar Sehgal said that it was just the beginning of a new era for handball in India. "We look forward to seeing Indian athletes excel globally with the support of strong media and institutional partnerships. DD Sports has consistently highlighted emerging talent, grassroots tournaments, and inclusive sports, giving India's young athletes the recognition they truly deserve."
Secretary general of HAI, Tejraj Singh, also said that with the collaboration of Prasar Bharati, handball will now reach millions of viewers across the nation. "This initiative will help identify talent and strengthen India's position in international handball."
It was a day of convincing wins in the District Football League 2025, at the Chowk Stadium here on Friday as Big Blue Club and LDA 'A' Club notched up easy wins. In the first match, Big Blue Club defeated Aliganj Sporting Club 3-0, whereas LDA 'A' Club defeated Lucknow Football Club 4-1.
In the first match, Pawan scored in the fifth and 20th minute, whereas Alok struck in the 49th minute.
The second match of the day witnessed the tournament's first hat-trick as Priyanshu Verma scored in the 10th, 38th, and 56th minutes for winners, whereas Veer Bhan scored in the 71st minute. For Lucknow Football Club, Rahul Kumar scored in 18 minutes....
