VARANASI, Feb. 6 -- A 26-year-old jail inmate, who was imprisoned in Gurma district jail, Sonbhadra, died around 2.45 pm on Thursday while undergoing treatment at the district hospital, officials said. The deceased, Radheshyam, was a resident of Urmaura under Robertsganj Kotwali. Jail superintendent Arun Kumar Mishra stated in a press release that Radheshyam was imprisoned in an NDPS case from January 5, 2026. Mishra added that the accused was undergoing treatment when he was lodged in the jail. During wee hours on Thursday, he suddenly started coughing and spitting up blood.
