Gorakhpur, March 28 -- A two-day Global Artificial Intelligence Confluence 2026 began on Friday at the Mahayogi Guru Gorakshnath research chair at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, with participation from 180 delegates from 26 countries, organisers said. The event is being organised under the aegis of the World Organisation of Students and Youths, Meta and the university. Uttar Pradesh Horticulture minister Dinesh Singh inaugurated the conclave. He said the event is not just a technical gathering but a platform for exchange of ideas. He added that such "knowledge churning" in AI will lead to innovation and benefit society. He said India should move ahead in new technologies while staying rooted in its cultural values. He stressed the need for ethical and human-centred development of artificial intelligence. Among those present were Ashish Chauhan, Rajeev Prakash and vice-chancellor Poonam Tandon. WOSY chairperson Ashish Chauhan said artificial intelligence is shaping knowledge and society. He said countries should develop AI systems based on their own languages and needs. Prof Rajeev Prakash said human intelligence must remain above artificial intelligence and called AI a supportive tool. He said it can help sectors like healthcare and agriculture but decisions should remain with humans.
