Gangotri temple panel announces Revised darshan time, phone ban
Mussoorie, April 6 -- Ahead of the start of the annual Char Dham Yatra, the temple committee of Gangotri Temple has announced revised darshan timings and imposed a ban on mobile phones inside the shrine premises to maintain sanctity and improve the experience for pilgrims.
The decision was taken during the annual meeting of the Shri Panch Mandir Samiti and teerth purohits (priests) held at the Gangotri Dharamshala on Saturday evening.
Suresh Semwal, secretary of the temple committee, said the new schedule has been introduced to streamline pilgrim movement and ensure that traditional rituals are conducted smoothly during the pilgrimage season.
According to the revised schedule, the day at the temple will begin with the Mangal Aarti at 6 am.
After the completion of morning rituals, the special Shri Ganga Ji Bhog ceremony will be performed at 9 am. Under the new system, devotees will be allowed to offer prayers continuously from 6 am to 4 pm.
Semwal said that during the day the deity will observe a brief Shayan (rest) period of around 10 minutes at about 1 pm, after which the temple will remain open for darshan until 4 pm.
After this, the temple gates will close temporarily for preparations for the evening rituals."The temple will reopen at 7:45 pm for the evening Sandhya Aarti," Semwal said....
