PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 24 -- A joint team of Nawabganj police station, SOG and Surveillance Cell busted a gang involved in making forged Aadhaar cards and arrested two accused. The operation had been running for about eight months under the guise of a computer center. However, the gang leader is absconding, and a search is underway for him. During the raid, the police recovered a large quantity of incriminating material, including Aadhaar card-making equipment. According to the police, they received information from Military Intelligence that forged Aadhaar cards were being made in Nawabganj town by misusing biometric fingerprints and extorting large sums of money from people. On Friday, the police raided Vidya Computer Center on Dahiyanwa Road and arrested Anish Kumar Patel, a resident of Belha, and Surendra Gupta, a resident of village Baribojh. During interrogation, the accused revealed that a silicon clone fingerprint of an authorised Aadhaar card maker's thumb had been prepared. With the help of this, they were opening website IDs and making Aadhaar cards. Shyamjit Singh, ACP, Soraon, said that Ajay Gupta, a resident of Baribojh, is the owner of the computer centre and the gang leader, who is absconding. A police team has been formed to arrest him. A late night brawl in the Neemsarai locality of Dhoomanganj turned fatal on Thursday when an 18 year old youth, Shamshad alias Allu, was shot dead. He suffered a bullet wound to the neck while trying to save his brother in law, Shamim, from an attack by local youths. Moments after the shooting, the assailants allegedly hurled three crude bombs before fleeing. Police have registered an FIR naming five accused including Owais, Mohammad Ismail alias Nikki, Kaish alias Golu, Imran, and Yusuf along with three unidentified individuals. According to the police, Shamim, an e rickshaw driver, had a minor collision with a motorcycle belonging to his neighbour, Owais. It is alleged that Owais and his associates assaulted him. After filing a written complaint at the Transport Nagar police outpost, Shamim was returning home with his family when the group confronted him again. Shamshad intervened to stop the fight and save his brother-in-law but was beaten and then shot. Three people, including Shamim, were injured in the assault....
