Five killed in accident on Bareilly highway
LUCKNOW, April 6 -- Five people were killed and several others injured after a speeding Bolero rammed into a tanker parked along the highway, following which a motorcycle coming from behind crashed into the mangled vehicle in Bareilly on Sunday afternoon, police said.
The accident occurred around 3 pm near Pardhauli village under the CB Ganj police station area on National Highway 530.
Police said the impact was so severe that the front half of the Bolero was completely crushed and its roof was blown off. Three bodies had to be extricated after cutting open the damaged vehicle. Two motorcycle riders died on the spot.
According to police, the tanker had been standing by the roadside since Saturday after it was involved in a collision with a state transport bus at the same location. On Sunday, the Bolero, which was travelling from Faridpur in Bareilly towards Rampur, crashed into the rear of the parked tanker.
A motorcycle coming from behind then rammed into the wrecked Bolero, further worsening the accident.
The Bolero was being driven by Prince, who was among the injured.
Police said the two men were reportedly on their way to a nearby pond for fishing when the accident took place.htc...
