Five held for teen's murder in Pipraich
GORAKHPUR, Jan. 1 -- Five individuals, including a juvenile, were on Wednesday arrested for the murder of a 17-year-old in Pipraich near here, police said. The teenager, identified as Sudhir Bharti alias Bhola, was allegedly shot dead five days ago in broad daylight in the playground of Cooperative Inter College.
The assault was said to be due to an altercation stemming from an old rivalry and disputes triggered by social media posts.
Superintendent of police (North) Gyanendra Nath Prasad said the arrests were made after sustained investigation and technical surveillance.
"All those involved in this heinous crime have been arrested," he said. Police recovered a 7.65 mm pistol, a country-made firearm, and the motorcycle used by the accused to flee the scene.
According to officials, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including murder and criminal conspiracy, along with provisions of the Arms Act. Further raids are underway to trace two more suspects believed to be absconding.
The arrests were carried out in a joint operation by the SWAT team, the Anti-Theft Squad, and the Pipraich police early Wednesday morning. The accused were identified as Dayanand alias Chhotu, Hrithik Roshan alias Roshan, Uday alias Kishan Kumar, and Deepak.
