Fire breaks out at SRN Hospital hostel
PRAYAGRAJ, April 21 -- Panic gripped Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital on Monday evening around 4 pm after a fire broke out due to a short circuit in Room No. 329 of the postgraduate hostel.
According to hospital sources, the room had been allotted to a postgraduate student who was not present at the time of the incident.
Smoke was first noticed billowing out of the room, prompting nearby students to act swiftly. Showing presence of mind, they broke open the door and attempted to douse the flames using fire extinguishers while simultaneously alerting the fire brigade.
The fire brigade arrived promptly and succeeded in bringing the blaze under control.
Although the fire caused damage to the belongings inside the room, no student or staff member sustained any injuries. Upon receiving information about the incident, chief superintendent Dr Neelam Singh, hostel warden Dr Dilip Chaurasia, and other hospital officials rushed to the spot to assess the situation.
