Find permanent solution to traffic woes in Lko, says HC
LUCKNOW, May 2 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Friday directed the DCP (Traffic) and the DCP (East), Lucknow, besides a gazetted officer from the Lucknow Municipal Corporation to find permanent solution to traffic congestion in city.
The court sought an action taken report from them within two weeks and directed to list the matter thereafter. The above-mentioned officers appeared before the court on Friday as per its earlier order on traffic congestion in Lucknow city, specially from Polytechnic to Kisan Path.
"Before appearing, the Officers aforesaid shall conduct an inspection of the entire route/area, as mentioned in the writ petition and hereinabove, to ascertain the problem and what are the solutions and then suggest solutions, if any, to the Court," the court had directed.
A division bench of Justice Alok Mathur and Justice Amitabh Kumar Rai passed the order on May 1 in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed by a local lawyer Suraj Singh Visen and other connected PILs raising the issue of traffic congestion in the city.
Shailendra Kumar Singh, chief standing counsel for the state government, informed the court that the state authorities have taken remedial measures to remove traffic congestion in Lucknow city. He produced details of the action taken in this regard by them. But, the court again directed the state authorities to take more effective measures for permanent solution to the traffic problem, Singh said.
