Meerut, March 25 -- The Municipal Corporation in Bareilly has stepped up its action against illegal encroachments in the CB Ganj area, issuing final notices to shopkeepers and residents occupying government land along Rampur Road and Khalilpur Road. Despite earlier notices, encroachers failed to end the illegal occupation. The municipal corporation's property officer has now issued a final seven-day notice, warning that the structures will be demolished if the encroachments are not cleared within the stipulated time. The crackdown is linked to the proposed widening of Rampur Road, hindered by these illegal constructions. According to officials, land under plot number 128 is designated to have a width of 55 meters according to revenue records. However, an inspection revealed that individuals had encroached upon government land by erecting tin sheds. Despite repeated notices, only temporary structures were partially removed, leaving some land still encroached. Authorities have warned that failure to remove the remaining encroachment within seven days will lead to demolition. The municipal corporation team also inspected Khalilpur Road, where nearly 300 houses have been built on encroached government land. Earlier, officials had conducted measurements, issued notices, and marked the structures with red marks indicating illegal occupation. However, residents did not comply. During a fresh inspection on Tuesday, officials again measured the land and asked residents to produce ownership documents. With encroachments still in place, authorities indicated that strict action may soon follow, putting hundreds of houses at risk of demolition. Notices have been served to several establishments and individuals, including Gupta Medical Store, Maheshwari Medical Store, Omkareshwar Bhojanalaya, Ahuja Cycle Store, Pragati Medical Store, Ayush Gupta, and Gaurav Gupta, directing them to remove encroachments within seven days.
