Ferrari CEO highlights innovation and precision engineering at Technex
VARANASI, March 14 -- Benedetto Vigna, chief executive officer of Ferrari, shared insights into precision engineering, luxury automotive design and the changing technological landscape of the automobile industry during the 87th edition of Technex 2026 at the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, on Friday.
The annual techno-management festival began at Swatantrata Bhawan and featured the flagship Think Talk Series. Vigna spoke during a fireside chat moderated by Sergius Barretto of Autocar India. He discussed innovation in Ferrari's engineering, the company's strategic vision and the importance of teamwork and technology in the upcoming Formula One season.
The opening day of Technex 2026 witnessed a large gathering of students, innovators and industry experts. The event began with the Kulgeet, reflecting the institute's heritage and its focus on innovation. One of the major attractions of the day was the Unitree G1 humanoid robot, which performed dance movements and demonstrated advanced locomotion at Swatantrata Bhawan, highlighting progress in robotics.
Amit Singh Sohal, VSM, also addressed participants, speaking about leadership, discipline and strategic thinking based on his experience in the armed forces. The corporate conclave, powered by National Securities Depository Limited, took place at the Senate Hall where Santanu Chakraborty discussed India's evolving capital markets and the role of technology in financial systems.
In the Kaleidoscope segment, Puneet Krishna, creator and showrunner of the series Mirzapur, spoke about his journey in screenwriting and the growth of digital storytelling in India. Another key event was Defence Symposium 2.0, organised in collaboration with the Garhwal Rifles and the Indian Army.
The exhibition displayed modern defence technologies such as nano drones, remote piloted aircraft systems, all-terrain vehicles, the Armoured Light Specialist Vehicle and the Robo Mule. An audiovisual presentation on Operation Sindoor paid tribute to the bravery of India's armed forces.
Across the Technex arena, competitions such as RoboWars, hackathons and the drone challenge Ascension encouraged student innovation. Informal activities included paintball, virtual reality experiences, racing simulators and wall art installations....
