Father, stepmother held for five-year-old's murder
PRAYAGRAJ, March 1 -- The Pratapgarh Police have arrested the father and the stepmother in connection with the murder of a five-year-old girl whose post-mortem report confirmed that she died due to suffocation, indicating that the girl was deliberately smothered to death.According to Mandhata police, accused Niazuddin, 33, had arrived in Dahilamau around 10-12 days ago.
He took the girl identified as Ayesha with him, telling the family that he was taking her to meet her grandparents. Soon after, relatives were informed of the child's death on February 25.
Ayesha's mother accused Niazuddin and his second wife Sabia Bano, 26, of being involved in the killing. Based on her complaint, police registered a case and interrogated the two accused. During questioning, the girl's stepmother Sabia Bano confessed to the crime.
Fatanpur police recovered seven stolen motorcycles and an e-rickshaw while investigating the theft of a bike belonging to a student who had gone to take an exam in Pratapgarh. Three members of a motorcycle-lifting gang were arrested during the operation.
It was following a case file by Rajkumari, residing at her parents' home in Vikrampur under Fatanpur police station, on February 23.
Kaushambi Police on Saturday provided major relief to 35 victims who lost their savings to digital arrest scams, intimidation and other cyber-fraud tactics, by returning the defrauded money to their bank accounts. SP Rajesh Kumar also announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for the cybercrime police station team. A total of Rs 11,84,181 was refunded to the accounts of 35 victims. Additionally, around Rs 30 lakh of cyber fraud money has also been frozen in various accounts.
A woman was allegedly assaulted and partially stripped by a group of men after she confronted them with a complaint in Paschimsharira police station area in Kaushambi. Acting on the SP's directions, authorities registered a case.
According to the victim, her husband earns a living by driving an e-rickshaw. On February 6, the couple went to a Jan Seva Kendra to obtain online birth certificates for their children. They had parked the e rickshaw near a village tubewell but found it vandalised upon returning. The victim alleged that Gorelal, a resident of Pabhosha, had damaged the vehicle and stolen its battery.
When she went to the accused's house to raise the issue, Gorelal and his father, Botla, allegedly assaulted her. She alleged that she was beaten and partially stripped in public....
