LUCKNOW, Feb. 21 -- A sessions court in Fatehpur on Thursday sentenced 12 convicts to life imprisonment in a 2009 murder case, prosecution authorities said on Friday. The judgment was delivered by additional sessions judge (court number 2) Pooja Vishwakarma in connection with a case registered at Hathgaon police station under IPC sections 147, 148, 149, 307 and 302. Additional district government counsel (criminal) Anil Dubey said those convicted include three brothers - Simab, Salman and Sikandar Naqvi - another trio of brothers, Mobeen, Masroor and Ghayyur Moin Zaidi, and Shahid Raja, Asgar, Ruqnuddin, Ramesh Chandra Singh, Mohammad Hai and Farhan Abbas alias Basu. The court awarded life term to all 12 under Section 302/149 IPC along with a fine of Rs.20,000 each. They were also sentenced to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs.10,000 each under Section 307/149 IPC.
