Meerut, Feb. 15 -- An explosion during the destruction of seized liquor at a police station in Shamli district left four people injured, including two police personnel and two watchmen, officials said. One of the injured watchmen is in a critical condition. According to officials, around 350 cartons of confiscated liquor were being destroyed at the station in compliance with a court order. During the process, staff members set fire to a plastic sack and threw it onto the pile of liquor stock. The flames quickly spread through the alcohol, triggering a powerful blast. The explosion was strong enough to cause burn injuries to head constable Johnny, constable Lalit Kumar, and watchmen Nawab and Sunil. Panic broke out on the premises immediately after the incident, and the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The incident occurred while a public grievance redressal programme was underway at the police station, attended by the sub-divisional magistrate of Unn and the circle officer of Kairana. Superintendent of police Narendra Pratap Singh confirmed that four people were injured and stated that watchman Nawab, whose condition is critical, was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for treatment....
