Ex-CGM of OEF Firozabad booked in DA case
LUCKNOW, Feb. 28 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a disproportionate assets (DA) case against Amit Singh, former chief general manager (CGM) of the Ordnance Equipment Factory (OEF), Firozabad, under the Prevention of Corruption Act alleging that he amassed assets and incurred expenditure significantly beyond his known sources of income. The CBI calculated the combined disproportionate assets and excess expenditure at Rs.55.58 lakh.
According to the FIR registered with CBI's Ghaziabad unit, Singh, a 1998-batch officer of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS), is accused of possessing disproportionate assets worth over Rs.55 lakh-73.28% more than his legitimate income-during the check period from April 1, 2022 to December 31, 2025.
A senior CBI official said the investigation found that at the beginning of the check period, Singh and his family possessed movable and immovable assets valued at Rs.18.83 lakh. This included bank balances and a residential property in Bareilly purchased in 2007 in the name of his wife, Neelam Singh.
By the end of the check period, their total assets had increased to Rs.37.33 lakh. The rise included a flat purchased in Lucknow in 2023 in his wife's name, mutual fund investments, and bank deposits. For the Lucknow flat, Singh had availed a home loan of Rs.39.20 lakh from Union Bank of India and repaid 34 EMIs amounting to Rs.13.60 lakh from his salary account.
During the check period, Singh's total income from known sources was pegged at Rs.75.86 lakh. However, his total expenditure stood at Rs.112.93 lakh. The probe revealed that while his assets increased by Rs.18.51 lakh during the period, his overall spending exceeded his income by Rs.37.08 lakh.
The agency stated that Singh failed to satisfactorily account for the assets and expenses disproportionate to his known income. htc...
