Meerut, May 2 -- A 75-year-old farmer was shot dead while he slept in his home in Rasoolpur Dhaulri village in Meerut district on Thursday night. The victim was identified as Ejaz, son of Abdul Rahman. According to police and local sources, the attackers fired three bullets-one hitting his forehead and two striking his chest. Ejaz, a farmer by profession, lived with his third son, Meraj, among his five sons. On the night of the incident, Meraj had reportedly gone to a mosque around 10 pm. Seizing the opportunity, the attackers carried out the killing. During preliminary investigation, it emerged that Ejaz had recently sold agricultural land worth Rs.74 lakh.
