LUCKNOW, Nov. 22 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday announced a fresh schedule for the publication of electoral rolls for the election of members to the UP Legislative Council from five graduate and six teacher constituencies. The qualifying date for enrolment as voters in these constituencies is November 1, 2025. According to the schedule, the draft publication of electoral rolls will be released on December 2. Claims and objections (under Rule 12 of the Electoral Registration Rules, 1960) can be filed between December 2 and 16. These will be disposed of, and a supplementary voter list will be prepared and printed on December 30. The final electoral rolls will be published on January 6, 2026. The election will be held to fill vacancies arising in 2026. The term of members elected from the five graduate constituencies (Lucknow, Meerut, Agra, Varanasi and Allahabad-Jhansi) and six teacher constituencies (Lucknow, Meerut, Agra, Varanasi, Bareilly-Moradabad and Gorakhpur-Faizabad) will end on December 7, 2026. htc...
