Dubai-bound passenger held at Lko airport with two live cartridges
LUCKNOW, Jan. 12 -- Security personnel at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport intercepted a Dubai-bound passenger after two live cartridges were found in his handbag during routine screening late on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
The incident took place around midnight as the passenger, identified as Mohd Gufran, a resident of Thakurganj in Lucknow, was entering the terminal to board Air India Express flight (IX 193) bound for Dubai and scheduled to depart at 1:35 am.
During X-ray screening in the Security Hold Area (SHA), CISF personnel noticed suspicious objects in the passenger's hand baggage. A subsequent physical check led to the recovery of two live 32-bore pistol cartridges.
The passenger was immediately detained for questioning by CISF. Officials said no firearm was found in his possession.
During interrogation, Gufran produced a valid arms licence for weapon to which the ammunition belonged. After verification of the licence and documentation, cartridges were seized and handed over to local police for further legal formalities. htc...
