Dry spell to last, brief snowfall in some districts
Mussoorie, Feb. 16 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) centre in Dehradun has forecast a predominantly dry week across the state, with only a brief spell of light rain and snowfall expected in high-altitude districts.
According to the latest week-long bulletin issued by the IMD Dehradun centre, dry weather conditions are likely to prevail in all districts on February 15 and 16. A slight change in weather patterns is expected on February 17 and 18, when very light to light rain and snowfall (at places situated at 3,300 metres and above) may occur at isolated locations in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.
For the remaining districts, including the plains and lower foothills, weather conditions are expected to remain consistently dry throughout the week, officials said. IMD officials added that maximum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 1-2 degrees C at many places in the state over the next four to five days, leading to warmer afternoons, particularly in the plains.
As per the latest data, Dehradun and Roorkee (Haridwar) recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 26degC, while Mukteshwar in Nainital district registered the lowest minimum temperature at 4.2degC.
Officials said the brief snowfall activity in higher reaches may bring temporary relief to upper Himalayan regions.htc...
