Haridwar, Jan. 4 -- Pauri district magistrate Swati S Bhadauriya has directed the officials to upgrade the existing facilities at the government Dr BR Ambedkar Girls' and Boys' Hostel, and ensure proper amenities and infrastructure to students, people familiar with the matter said on Saturday. The orders came during an impromptu inspection of the hostel premises. During the inspection, the district magistrate issued stern instructions to officials of the social welfare department. She directed district social welfare officer Rohit Dubadiya and the hostel in-charge to ensure the provision of nutritious food, strict adherence to the weekly menu chart and maintenance of proper hygiene. Bhadauriya also instructed officials to ensure monthly medical check-ups of students, inclusion of millet-based nutritious meals, regular display and compliance of the approved menu on notice boards, and availability of competitive exam and self-motivation books. She further emphasised the need to provide adequate sports equipment, especially for indoor games, and to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and toilets. Motivational and career guidance sessions related to school education were also directed to be organised regularly. "Officials have been directed to ensure monthly health check-ups, nutritious food, proper display and adherence to menu charts, availability of books and sports equipment, cleanliness and regular motivational sessions for students," the district magistrate said.
