CSIR-NBRI fuses AI, traditional knowledge for biodiversity
LUCKNOW, Feb. 1 -- A series of scientific, cultural and technological initiatives under the theme 'Science for Sustainability: Deity, Devotee, Discovery & Documentation (2S-4D)' was inaugurated at the CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (CSIR-NBRI) on Saturday. The inauguration was led by N Kalaiselvi, director general of CSIR and secretary, DSIR, ministry of science & technology, government of India.
Kalaiselvi inaugurated a dedicated Shiv Bhabhut Making Facility for society, emphasising the integration of traditional knowledge with scientific validation.
At Maharishi Parashar Bioresource Centre, Banthra, she also launched key biodiversity and conservation facilities, including 'Paawan Path' (Plants and Associated Vegetations for Appreciating Nature), 'ViBhav Enclave' (Threatened Plants of India Garden), and 'Bha(I)RaV Enclave' (State Plants of India Garden).
The two innovative thematic gardens at the CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute (CSIR-NBRI) highlighted India's rich plant diversity and conservation priorities through living landscapes integrated with digital technology.
She also launched the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and QR-based digital tagging at the institute's LWG Herbarium....
