Crackdown on Chinese manjha begins in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 10 -- A three-day campaign against the sale and use of Chinese 'manjha' began in the Prayagraj commissionerate on Monday. Police teams from all stations will inspect shops in their areas until February 12 to check the sale of the banned kite string.The drive aims to prevent accidents caused by the sharp synthetic string, which has led to serious and fatal injuries in recent incidents. The campaign is being carried out across Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi and Fatehpur districts.
Police said they will take strict legal action against anyone found manufacturing, storing, selling or using Chinese manjha, synthetic or nylon kite string, or lead-coated string. Station house officers have been directed to conduct checks, identify supply networks and seize prohibited material. The police have appealed to the public to share information, assuring confidentiality. Police commissioner Joginder Singh said he will personally monitor the drive and take action against negligent officers....
