Rudrapur, May 11 -- Five bike-borne men opened fire in Rampura Colony of Rudrapur district on Saturday evening following a dispute over payment for fast food, police said. According to police five men arrived at a fast food stall and ordered chowmein. When the vendor, Somveer, asked for payment, the men allegedly refused to pay, leading to a heated exchange. Following the argument, the group initially left the spot. However, they later returned to the colony and again got into an altercation with the vendor, police said. As the dispute escalated, the men opened fire, triggering panic among residents of the locality. In response, locals pelted stones at the attackers, forcing them to flee from the scene. A police team from Rampura outpost reached the spot after receiving information and initiated an investigation. Police also collected CCTV footage from the area to identify the accused. Superintendent of police (SSP) Udham Singh Nagar Jitendra Choudhary said, "The accused have been identified on the basis of CCTV footage. They are currently absconding and police teams are conducting raids to arrest them."
