Cops arrest four more accused of looting e-rickshaw driver
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 7 -- Police have arrested four more persons for robbing and assaulting an e-rickshaw driver in Pratapgarh district. Earlier, two accused were arrested following a police encounter on January 4 night.
Following the latest arrests, all six accused have been sent to jail on Tuesday, police said.
According to officials, the victim, Sunil Kumar Vishwakarma, a resident of Purvi Sahodarpur Jail Road under the Nagar Kotwali police station limits, operates an e-rickshaw near the railway station. Around midnight on January 3, he was hired by four persons who later assaulted him and robbed him near Rampur Aadharganj in the Dileeppur police station area.
On the night of January 4, police arrested two accused-Lavkush Ojha, a resident of Shripur in Raniganj, and Chand, son of Ramvriksh, a resident of Sarai Sher Khan-after an encounter near Chauharjan Bridge.
Both sustained bullet injuries to their legs during the encounter.
Following their interrogation, Dileeppur station house officer Balram Singh arrested four more accused on Monday evening near the Misiddhipur turning.
The accused were identified as Sumit Saroj of Sarai Sher Khan (Raniganj), Suraj alias Karan Giri of Dilippur Goin, Ravi Kumar, and Ravi Dubey alias Dev Dubey of Purelokman, the SHO said.
Police have recovered the looted mobile phone and the motorcycle used in the crime. The two injured accused were also sent to jail along with the others on Tuesday, the SHO added....
