Lucknow, March 6 -- A cook working at a biryani shop in the Para area was arrested after a video allegedly showing him spitting on roti while preparing it surfaced on social media, police said on Wednesday. According to the Lucknow Police, the video, which began circulating online on March 2, showed a man preparing rotis and appearing to spit on them while cooking. "During the investigation, police traced the video to a Muradabadi biryani shop located near Budheshwar Mahadev Temple, opposite the Dudh Mandi in the Para area. Police identified the man seen in the video as Anas, a worker at the shop and a resident of Kothi Bhanmau in Barabanki district," read the FIR copy. Station house officer of Para Police Station, Suresh Singh, said a case under section 271 and 271 of BNS was registered against the accused and he was arrested on March 4. Action was also taken against him under provisions related to breach of peace considering the seriousness of the incident, the officer added. Police said such acts pose a risk to public health as they may lead to the spread of infections and diseases.
