Contamination deaths: MP panel seeks records
Bhopal, March 6 -- A one-member judicial commission probing the Bhagirathpura epidemic in Indore, which claimed 22 lives, has submitted an interim report before the Indore bench of the MP high court, citing the absence of crucial documents such as post-mortem and water testing reports. The commission, headed by Justice (Retd.) Sushil Kumar Gupta, sought more time to complete the probe as several key records are yet to be provided by the civic body.
A division bench of justices Vijay Kumar Shukla and Alok Awasthi granted the commission one month's extension and directed it to submit a comprehensive report by April 6, 2026.
The commission informed the court that documents related to water supply management, post-mortem reports, water testing and laboratory analysis reports, records on installation of water pipelines and sewage lines, tender and contractual documents for pipeline work, and complaints from residents along with action taken reports are still awaited from the IMC....
