Container crash triggers bus pile-up on Agra-Lko eway; 1 dead, 7 injured
Lucknow, April 25 -- One person was killed and seven others injured after two private sleeper buses rammed into an overturned container on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao district early on Friday, police said.
The accident occurred around 2 am near Rasoolpur Majhigawan village under the Bangarmau police station area. Officials said a container travelling from Agra towards Lucknow lost control, broke through the central divider and overturned onto the opposite carriageway, landing in the Lucknow-to-Agra lane.
A Unnao police official said two buses heading from Lucknow to Agra collided with the overturned container. No one was inside the container at the time.
Panic gripped passengers after the crash, with many rushing out to seek help while some remained trapped. Around 120 passengers were on board the two buses.
Police teams from Behta Mujawar and Bangarmau stations reached the spot, while UPEIDA cleared the container using cranes and restored traffic. The deceased is yet to be identified....
