Lucknow, Feb. 19 -- Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra on Wednesday criticised the Uttar Pradesh budget, saying only 12% has been proposed for education while neighbouring states such as Delhi and Bihar allocated over 20%. She questioned how education quality could improve in a state of over 25 crore people with such an allocation. "Government talks about digital learning, smart schools, and a modern education system, but the ground reality is completely different. Are the children of our state receiving quality education as per the promises? Statistics and reports on the education sector are extremely unfortunate and expose the claims of the government," she said. She said claims of digital learning and smart schools did not match ground realities, citing the ASER 2024 report which found many students in government schools struggling with basic reading and arithmetic. Mishra also condemned the lathicharge on Congress workers protesting over MNREGA and sought action against officials. htc...
