LUCKNOW, Jan. 29 -- Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash on Wednesday. "The tragic plane crash in Baramati, Maharashtra resulting in the untimely demise of Maharashtra's deputy CM Ajit Pawar and others is extremely heartbreaking and soul-wrenching. My humble tribute to them. My condolences are with the bereaved family members. I pray to Lord Shri Ram that the departed souls attain eternal peace and the grieving families are granted the strength to bear this immense sorrow," the CM wrote on X. UP deputy CM Brajesh Pathak said, "I pray that God gives strength to the family members and party members at this time. We stand with his family in these difficult times." Other leaders also expressed grief over the incident. "The news of plane crash with Maharashtra's deputy CM Ajit Pawar is extremely painful. Prayers to Baba Vishwanath that the departed soul rest in peace and that the injured recover soon," wrote UP Congress president Ajay Rai. UP BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary expressing grief said, "I express my deepest condolences to the family of the bereaved in this tough time.
