Mussoorie, Feb. 13 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will inaugurate the National Skiing Championship and Winter Carnival 2026 in state's Auli on Friday, officials aware of the matter said on Thursday. The event, set to be held from February 13 to 16 is being jointly organised by the Tourism Department and the Winter Games Federation of Uttarakhand, officials said. For the first time, the championship will be organised across two separate skiing slopes at the Auli Skiing Resort, a strategic decision taken in view of the rapid melting of snow on the primary Nanda Devi slope. Officials said the dual-slope arrangement will ensure smooth conduct of the event without disruption. Secretary of the state's Winter Games Federation Rakesh Ranjan Bhilangwal said: "High-ranking officials conducted a comprehensive review of the skiing tracks, technical safety standards and athlete facilities. All preparations are in place, and CM Dhami is expected to inaugurate the event on Friday," he said....
