LUCKNOW, March 24 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will distribute appointment letters to six sportspersons, including cricketer Rinku Singh, and five paralympians on Tuesday under the state government's scheme of giving direct appointments to medalists, at a ceremony at Lok Bhawan at 5pm. On the occasion, the CM will also felicitate nine sportspersons with the state government's prestigious Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai awards and transfer financial support of Rs 8.75 lakh to 19 sportspersons under the Eklavya Krida Kosh. Fourteen athletes who won medals at the international level will also receive cash awards. As per a communique from RP Singh, UP's director, sports, medalists at the Paralympics like Praveen Kumar and bronze medalist at the Paris Olympics, Raj Kumar Pal, will be appointed DSPs in the home department, whereas two other Paralympians Ajeet Singh and Simran will be appointed as Zila Panchayat Raj Adhikaris in the Panchayat Raj department. Preeti Pal, a bronze medalist at the Paris Paralympics, will be appointed as block development officer in the rural development department, whereas Rinku Singh, who won a gold medal at the Asian Games, will be appointed as a regional sports officer in the sports department. A sum of Rs 3.11 lakh each, a scroll, and a statue Laxman and Rani Laxmi Bai will be given to nine recipients, including Uttam Singh (hockey), Abhijeet Kumar (gymnastics) and Jonty Kumar (wrestling), whereas in the women's category, Prachi (athletics), Tanya Chaudhary (athletics) and Vantika Agarwal (chess) will be awarded. In the male Para athletes category, Yash Kumar (canoeing) and Praveen Kumar (athletics) will be felicitated with the Laxman Award, whereas Pragati Kesarwani (table tennis) will receive the Rani Laxmi Bai award in the female para athlete category.
