Dehradun, Feb. 19 -- Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami virtually inaugurated the Champawat Saras Corbett Festival 2026 on Wednesday from his camp office here, hailing it as a key driver for tourism, local jobs and cultural pride in the district. Addressing the gathering, Dhami said the festival comes at a time when the region is gearing up for Holi celebrations, noting that the Holi of Kali Kumaon holds a distinct identity in the country. "The confluence of Baithaki Holi, Khadi Holi, music, rhythm and folk culture is rarely seen elsewhere," he said. He described Champawat as a land rich in history, spirituality and culture, adding that the festival is not merely an event but a celebration of Uttarakhand's cultural heritage, natural beauty, women's empowerment, youth enthusiasm and the resolve for a self-reliant state. The chief minister said the festival aims to place Champawat prominently on the national adventure tourism map through activities such as paragliding, mountain biking, hot air ballooning, river rafting, paramotoring, bird watching and trekking....
