Lucknow, Feb. 14 -- Chief minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled his government's plans during the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address in the legislative assembly on Friday. "The state government is moving Uttar Pradesh towards an emerging technology and innovation-based economy by connecting youth with skills, technology and entrepreneurship," he said. "The government has established new centres in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, digital technology, semiconductors, data science, robotics, drone technology, and space technology, aligning the vocational education framework with modern technologies. The need of the hour is to train as many youth as possible in future-oriented technologies," he added. The Prime Minister will soon lay the foundation stone for North India's first semiconductor unit in Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida). A high speed railway track will be laid along the Purvancahal Expressway, he said. "Under the National Education Policy 2020, a new direction is being given to skill development and technological advancement by the state government. Initiatives like Skill India, Startup India and Standup India have been effectively implemented in the state. Currently, more than 20,000 startups are active in UP; 76 incubators, seven Centers of Excellence, and eight unicorns are operating in the state," he said. Noting that the establishment of the UP Data Authority and Data Center Clusters has been announced in the budget, he said it's the need for the future. "Data centre infrastructure is essential for advancing in the field of artificial intelligence and UPis among the leading states in the country in this field," he said. "Our government advanced the vision of "One District, One Medical College". The number of medical colleges in the state has increased from 36 to 81. The 81st medical college opened in Amethi. Work on several new medical colleges is underway. Two AIIMS operate in Gorakhpur and Rae Bareli. Super-specialty facilities have been developed in several facilities," he said. The chief minister also said the government is focusing on AI, genomics, telemedicine, medtech, and healthtech as a future-ready approach. "Provisions have also been made for these areas in the budget. Work is underway to develop Centers of Excellence. Uttar Pradesh will not only become a major market for healthcare services but also a major hub for pharmaceutical production and manufacturing. The establishment of a pharma park in Lalitpur has progressed. Top pharma entrepreneurs from India and abroad recently participated in the Pharma Conclave held in Lucknow." Work on a medical device park in Gautam Buddha Nagar is progressing rapidly, ensuring affordable and quality medical equipment. Through these efforts, UP is moving towards comprehensive transformation in the healthcare sector, and the government is working relentlessly towards this goal, he said. "The state has the highest number of cities with metro operations. Four metros were mentioned in the budget speech, but currently, six city metros are fully operational, and the seventh, Meerut, will be added after the Prime Minister's inauguration on February 22," he said. The junction of the Eastern and Western Freight Corridors is also being developed in UP, which will become a major logistics hub. Multimodal terminals are being established along the Inland Waterway, enabling farmers' vegetables and food grains to reach global markets. Jewar International Airport is slated to be UP's fifth and India's largest airport. MROs, aviation-based industrial clusters, and defense manufacturing activities will be located around it along the expressway....
