Lucknow, Feb. 19 -- The Christian Community, all over the world, and in India, marked Ash Wednesday, a day of fasting and abstinence, on February 18. The day ushers in the Season of Lent. Lent, a period of 40 days, invites the Christian people to review their life with fast, penance, prayer and acts of mercy. On Ash Wednesday, during the Holy Mass, Ashes from the burnt Palm or Olive branches of the Palm Sunday of the previous year, are put on the heads of the people with the words: "Remember man that you are dust, and unto dust you shall return", an apt reminder of the fragility of human life, with a call to live a good and upright human life in this world, a release issued by Rev Dr Donald De Souza, chancellor & spokesperson, Catholic Diocese of Lucknow, read.
