Centre clears Rs.6,969 crore highway project
New Delhi, March 19 -- The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a 4-lane access-controlled National Highway-927 from Barabanki to Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh at a cost of Rs.6,969.04 crore. The 101.515-km project will be built under Hybrid Annuity Mode, with Rs.3,485.49 crore as civil cost and Rs.1,574.85 crore for land acquisition.
The project will generate 36.54 lakh direct and 43.04 lakh indirect person-days of employment. It aims to address sharp curves, geometric deficiencies and congestion in Barabanki and Bahraich districts.
Designed with service roads, it will bypass major habitations, reduce travel time to about one hour and improve road safety, fuel efficiency and vehicle costs. The corridor will connect key economic, social and logistics nodes.
