LUCKNOW, Feb. 25 -- Commemorating its centenary year, Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (BSV) is planning to extend its presence to other districts across the state. The authorities plan to open new centres in major cities such as Kanpur, Azamgarh, and Aligarh. These centres will offer various degree and diploma courses in vocal music, instrumental music, and dance. Currently, institutions such as Bharatendu Natya Academy, Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi, and State Lalit Kala Akademi are affiliated to the university, through which it imparts cultural education. Additionally, a music college in Hariharpur is also affiliated and functions under the university.Prof Mandavi Singh, vice-chancellor, said that the primary objective of the institution is to take cultural education to the masses. "As part of this initiative, the inspection process for the application received from Kanpur has been completed, and the process of starting courses there is underway. Applications from Azamgarh and Aligarh will be approved soon after inspections are conducted. "The university is considering opening new centres within Lucknow in areas far from the main campus or affiliated academies. This will enable local students to pursue arts education conveniently without traveling long distances. "This initiative will not only strengthen the state's cultural heritage but also provide an authentic platform to talented individuals from remote regions," said Singh. These centres will operate strictly in accordance with the standards of BSV, offering degree and diploma programs prescribed by the university. Qualified teachers at the respective centres will conduct classes, following the university's curriculum and teaching guidelines. University faculty members and experts may also visit these centres to provide specialised training. Research scholars of the university will also get opportunities for training at these centres.
