LUCKNOW, March 2 -- A second-semester BSc (Agriculture) student allegedly died by suicide in his room at Subhash Hostel of Lucknow University on Sunday afternoon, triggering panic on the campus, police said. According to a press release, the incident came to light around 1 pm when students noticed that the room was locked from inside and there was no response despite repeated knocks. Hostel authorities alerted Hasanganj police, who reached the spot. Officials said the door was opened in the presence of students, following which the 20-year-old's body was found hanging from the ceiling fan. Police summoned a forensic team to collect evidence from the scene. Inquest proceedings were conducted and the body was sent for the post-mortem examination. Authorities informed the family members about the incident. Fellow students told police that he had been suffering from depression for some time. Police said further legal proceedings were underway and all possible angles were being investigated....
