Blackout drill to be held today in Prayagraj
Prayagraj, Jan. 24 -- A blackout mock drill will be held in Prayagraj on Saturday. It was earlier planned for January 23, along with the rest of Uttar Pradesh. The date was changed due to the ongoing Magh Mela 2026 and the Basant Panchami bathing festival, which has attracted a large number of devotees.

It will take place near Bishop Johnson Girls' College, close to the district collectorate crossing. The drill will start at 6 pm. Electricity in the area will remain switched off from 6.15 pm to 6.20 pm. A coordination meeting has already been held under the chairmanship of district magistrate and controller, civil defence, Manish Kumar Verma to ensure smooth arrangements. Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi', along with other public representatives and senior officials, has been invited as a chief guest.
