LUCKNOW, Jan. 13 -- A 26-year-old Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) leader died while two of his companions suffered critical injuries on Monday morning when their SUV collided head-on with a speeding dumper truck near the Lala Khera intersection at the Lucknow-Unnao border, police said. The deceased, Happy Rajput, was the Mandal general secretary of BJYM's Bichhiya block in Unnao district. He was travelling to the state capital with seven companions to attend a reception for BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary, followed by a planned pilgrimage to Ayodhya. "Preliminary investigations suggest that reckless driving and excessive speed by the truck driver led to the head-on collision," said SHO, PGI, DK Singh. Happy was the only surviving son of Vijay Rajput and Shanti Rajput after losing his younger brother, Lucky, to COVID-19 in 2021. His engagement was scheduled for February 8, with the wedding planned for April 26. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Asoha Police Station. The impact trapped the occupants inside the SUV. Passers-by and local residents initiated rescue operations before police arrived. Seven people were pulled from the wreckage. While four sustained minor injuries, Happy Rajput, Anurag Rajput and Satyendra Rajput were rushed to PGI Trauma Centre....
