Dehradun, Nov. 22 -- In his statement to the police, BJP leader and former MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion's son Divye Pratap claimed that he did not assault R Yashovardhan, the son of former chief secretary S Ramaswamy, but added that he had a physical altercation with Yashouardhan's driver in a rage because he wasn't letting hi car overtake. Divye Pratap was booked for allegedly assaulting Yashovardhan in a road rage incident on November 14. He appeared before the police via video conferencing, police said. "Accused Divye Pratap's lawyer appeared before the police, saying he was busy with his shooting training until December 1. So he can't appear physically for now. Through a video call, he claimed that he didn't assault the former chief secretary's son, but his driver, in a fit of rage, as he wasn't letting his car overtake," said Pradeep Rawat, in-charge at Rajpur police station. "It can also be seen in the CCTV footage that the accused didn't say anything to the former chief secretary's son," Rawat said. An FIR against the Pratap was registered on Saturday under sections 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (4) ( Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), and 351 (3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Rajpur police station.
