Haridwar, Jan. 29 -- Two men, including the brother of BJP zila panchayat vice-president Amit Chauhan, suffered bullet injuries in a firing incident stemming from a land dispute in Noorpur Panjanhedi village in Hardwar district on Wednesday, police said. The clash erupted when a revenue team arrived to measure a disputed parcel linked to Usha Township, a project developed by Amit Chauhan. Tension boiled over into violence after members of two factions argued heatedly. Atul Chauhan, brother of Amit, had filed a complaint alleging illegal construction, prompting the team's visit for verification. A confrontation ensued between his group and one led by property dealer Sachin Chauhan, Amit's brother. Sachin Chauhan and his relative Krishan Pal collapsed after sustaining gunshot wounds. Police allege Atul Chauhan carried out the firing. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital before referral to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh. Their condition is stable. "Police are investigating the incident from all angles. CCTV footage from the area is being examined. The accused, Atul Chauhan, later surrendered at Kankhal police station along with the pistol used in the firing," said Abhay Pratap Singh, superintendent of city police.
