LUCKNOW, Feb. 7 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday issued a notice to its Charkhari MLA from Mahoba district, Brijbhushan Rajput, for obstructing the cavalcade of UP Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh over "dug-up roads and pending development projects" in the district on January 31. In the notice, BJP state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh has sought an explanation from Rajput for his conduct. Party sources said the BJP has taken serious note of the incident and indicated that disciplinary action could follow. However, the MLA claimed that he had not received any notice from the party. High-voltage drama unfolded in Mahoba on January 31 when Rajput, accompanied by his supporters, stopped the minister's convoy while raising issues related to dug-up roads and pending development works. The situation escalated after police personnel deployed for the minister's security intervened, leading to a heated exchange. The incident took place at the district headquarters when the minister was returning after attending a programme of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He was also scheduled to launch a rural drinking water project under the Jal Jeevan Mission at Lilwahi village in the district.The standoff ended after the minister stepped out of his vehicle and assured the MLA that action would be taken against officials responsible for the delay in development works....
