Bizman crushed under SUV during late-night brawl
LUCKNOW, Jan. 26 -- A late-night dispute at the Summit Building in Vibhuti Khand took a horrific turn Thursday when a local businessman was run over and pinned beneath an SUV for nearly 25 minutes, police said.
Police have arrested two suspects, both residents of Uttarakhand, and seized the vehicle involved. Authorities are currently conducting raids to locate additional individuals linked to the assault, said Amar Singh, station house officer (SHO).
While the attack took place late Thursday, the matter surfaced publicly following the registration of an FIR on Saturday.
The violence broke out around 1:00 am in the complex parking area. The victim, who was attending a party with friends, reportedly attempted to mediate a heated argument involving a group of youths.
Witness accounts state that the group turned on the businessman after he tried to pacify them. "The attackers allegedly assaulted him and attempted to steal a chain from one of his companions. When the victim resisted, the accused ran over him with the SUV while trying to flee." As security guards scrambled to lock the gates and prevent an escape, the driver reversed the vehicle and deliberately ran over the businessman. The SUV came to a halt with its wheels pinning both of the victim's legs and it remained stationary on top of him for approximately 25 minutes.
Police personnel from the nearby outpost reached the spot and, with the help of locals, pulled the victim out from under the vehicle and rushed him to hospital, where he remains in critical condition....
