VARANASI, Jan. 24 -- Banaras Hindu University marked its 111th Foundation Day with colourful celebrations that highlighted India's cultural continuity and modern aspirations. The celebrations began with rituals at the Foundation Site on Vasant Panchami, commemorating the laying of the university's foundation stone in 1916. Vice-Chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi congratulated the university community on the occasion. A major highlight was the grand tableau procession on the theme Bharat: Samagrata ke saath Nirantarta. As many as 31 tableaux, presented by various faculties, institutes and schools, were flagged off by the VC along with chief guest Prof Anand Kumar Tyagi, Vice-Chancellor of MGKV. Moving through Malviya Bhavan, the tableaux depicted India's journey from ancient wisdom to modern innovation, showcasing themes ranging from Vedic traditions and agriculture to science, technology, sports, sustainability and nation-building.
