Arpit's knock helps Rising Star enter semi-finals
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 19 -- Riding on an impressive batting performances by Arpit Kesharwani and Chitranjan Chaubey, Railway Operating Rising Star stormed into the semi-finals of the Abbas-Rai Media Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament, defeating Almighty-XI by 37 runs in the final league match here on Wednesday.
Playing at the Government Press Ground, Rising Star opted to bat first and posted a formidable total of 208 in 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Arpit Kesharwani, who played a sensational knock of 96 runs off 56 balls, smashing 16 fours and two sixes. He was well supported by Chitranjan Chaubey, who scored 51 runs off 40 balls, including eight boundaries.
For Almighty-XI , Aditya Tripathi impressed with figures of 3/17, while Dhirendra Kumar claimed 2/33. Manoj Yadav and Hamdan Ahmad shared two wickets between them. Chasing the target, Almighty-XI could score 171. Despite a fighting innings of 85 runs off 56 balls (11 fours and three sixes) by Manoj Yadav, the team fell short of the target. Akash Singh contributed 30 runs, and Rishabh Pandey added 25.
For Rising Star, Ragesh delivered an impressive spell of 2/12, while Mahendra Gupta took 2/47. Chitranjan Chaubey and Ravindra Anand claimed one wicket each.
Arpit Kesharwani was awarded the Man of the Match award for his outstanding batting performance.
Tournament Organizing secretary Amit Srivastava informed that the semi-finals will be played on February 21 and the finals on February 22 at the Allahabad University Ground.
The first semi-final will be played between Flying Daggers and Invincible Titans, while the second semi-final will see Thunder Strikers face Railway Operating Rising Star....
